I recently had the opportunity to travel to Jeju Island in South Korea, famous for its stunning natural beauty and breathtaking landscapes. I was particularly excited to visit Hallasan Mountain, a popular tourist destination and the highest peak in South Korea.

The journey to the top of Hallasan was challenging, but the views from the summit were well worth the effort. The winding trail took me through dense forests, past sparkling streams, and across rocky terrain. Along the way, I stopped at several scenic lookouts and was amazed by the panoramic views of Jeju Island and the surrounding waters.

Once I reached the summit, I was greeted by a sea of clouds, which created a dream-like atmosphere. The summit offered 360-degree views of the surrounding landscape, including the lush forests, rolling hills, and distant islands. I spent some time taking in the breathtaking scenery and reflecting on the majesty of nature.

After descending from the mountain, I explored the rest of Jeju Island, visiting the famous lava caves and experiencing the unique culture of the region. The local cuisine was a highlight for me, with fresh seafood, juicy meats, and delicious side dishes.

How to make kimchi, a famous Korean food, and its benefits

Kimchi is a traditional Korean dish made of fermented vegetables, usually Napa cabbage, and a spicy and flavorful seasoning made with ingredients such as chili pepper flakes, ginger, garlic, fish sauce, and sugar.

To make kimchi, you'll need the following ingredients:

Napa cabbage (1 large head)

Salt (1/2 cup)

Water (6 cups)

Red chili pepper flakes (1/2 cup)

Fish sauce (1/4 cup)

Sugar (2 tablespoons)

Ginger (1-inch piece, grated)

Garlic (4 cloves, minced)

Green onions (4, chopped)

Carrots (2, grated)

Instructions:

Cut the Napa cabbage into 2-inch pieces and place them in a large bowl.

Mix 1/2 cup of salt with 6 cups of water and pour it over the cabbage. Let it sit for 2 hours.

Drain the cabbage and rinse it well with cold water.

In a separate bowl, mix together the red chili pepper flakes, fish sauce, sugar, grated ginger, minced garlic, chopped green onions, and grated carrots.

Add the mixture to the cabbage and mix well until the cabbage is coated with the seasoning.

Transfer the mixture to a large jar or container with a tight-fitting lid and let it ferment at room temperature for 2 to 7 days. Check it daily to ensure it's fermenting properly.

When the kimchi is ready, transfer it to the refrigerator and enjoy as a side dish or as an ingredient in other dishes.

  1. Kimchi has several health benefits due to its fermented nature. It is rich in vitamins and probiotics, which can help improve digestion and boost the immune system. The spices used in kimchi also have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Additionally, kimchi has been linked to lower risk of chronic diseases, such as obesity and heart disease, due to its low calorie and high fiber content.
